About
Kindred is a fabulously striped display typeface that is perfectly angled and consists of parallel stripes.The typeface was inspired by paint brushes and hence the square shaped font instead of curves. This is a display typeface works which extremely well when reversed too.
Design Process
The paint brush idea continued to evolve discarding certain features of a paint brush into a extra long stroke representing the handle of the brush, a medium stroke representing ferrule which is silver part of the brush and a small stroke representing the bristles of a brush.The main focus when I created this typeface was to maintain the same angle 111 degrees with all the letters except for the letter X which was very challenging.
